Have you ever wanted something really badly then been disappointed when you got it?

The jury is still out on the Olympus E-PL1. I definitely don't like it without the electronic viewfinder (which I don't yet have). I'll get one, and then we'll see. I've also been disappointed in all the (many, many) rangefinder cameras I've owned, because even after many years of trying, I still find them slow and awkward to use and hard to focus.

Voigtlander Nokton 35 1.2. I just didn't like the images it made at all. Big disappointment but it worked out fine in the end. I bought it for a bargain price and sold it for nearly double. The person who bought it was delighted with it. All's well that ends well !

Goes to show - I got rid of the 35mm Summilux ASPH to get the Nokton, and never looked back 😀

Maybe mine was a bad one - but as I said the person I sold it to was happy. I bought it to use at and near 1.2 and really wasn't impressed. It was fine stopped down but I have smaller lighter lenses for that.

I had high expectations of it because it has such a good reputation but it just wasn't for me. I have since bought a 35mm Summilux ASPH which I think is excellent.

It would be a boring world if we all liked the same ....

Zeiss ZM 28mm f2.8. It had a little play in the focus ring. For such an expensive lens I expected better build quality. Many others have reported on the "wobble" with Zeiss lenses and will avoid them in the future.

35mm. Lusted after Leica M's, now MF RF (Mamiya 7II, Fuji 690s) with their large negatives satisfy me. Don't let me play with LF, ever . . .

CV Heliar 75/2.5: I bought the lens cause alot of folks here talked up the 35/75 combination and praised this lens as terrific value for the money. I suppose it is, but I could never make it work for me, and ultimately sold it. I guess the real value was in learning that the 35/75 combination just does not work for me.

The Kodak Signet 80. Lens is really soft. They should have put an Ektar on it. Interesting features, cleaned the finder, aligned it, fixed the film counter. Maybe I'll hack another lens into the mount. A Xenar would be nice. 1x viewfinder, like on a Nikon RF.

Whew. Glad I got that off my chest. Selenium meter is still accurate.

I'm just a little disappointed that my Leica M2 doesn't have an invisibility mode- like come on, I spent four hundred bucks! I guess that's what happens when you buy the 'cheap' model...🙄

Billingham camera bags. Infatuated by how they look in pics...clunky and uncomfortable to carry.

Really? Mine is super comfortable to carry and not clunky at all.

My main regret is buying film SLR's and hating using them. I keep trying SLR's(film and digital) and not getting along with them.
Someone mentioned the 70-200 F4L, nice lens but it screams out HEY LOOK I'M EXPENSIVE!
I wish the M8 would be a tiny bit more affordable.

Noctilux - too big, too heavy, too costly, and limited use at f/1 (although when it's right, the image is unique) - sold it and was so much happier

Olympus.

Everything other than an Epic Stylus zoom I got for my wife. OM, XA etc. All with lousy ergos & overpriced due to fan boys.

I've bought much more stuff than I should have over the past 2-3 years but the only thing that has been a real disappointment is a Sigma SD10 that I acquired. I have a DP-1 which can produce stunning images and I lusted over a Sigma DSLR for quite a while before finally finding one. Sadly, I could never get the same results from the SD10 that I could from the DP-1. And to top it off the camera is huge and clunky--neither comfortable nor fun to use...
