Okay, so I took an old Argus Argoflex TLR with me on my vacation to Marquette, MI. I knew, when I took the camera, that it had haze in the taking lens. It wasn't the worst I've seen, but it wasn't great either.

So, I know the basic things that can happen with haze: reduced contrast and increased flare are the major problems. However, one thing that I seemed to notice was that the pictures I shot towards the sun (I took a lot of sunset pictures) saw a drastic drop in sharpness/clarity. If I took an image that was not backlit, the sharpness of the image improved in a dramatic way. Is this typical of haze in a lens? This is new to me, as I have never heard of reduced sharpness when shooting a backlit subject with a hazed lens.

Just curious to hear your thoughts.
