HCB became the victim of a decisive moment

Interesting. Looks like a Minolta CLE with a 40mm in the right hand, and a black M2 or M3 with a chrome lens hanging from the neck.

Donno about M2/M3 , but to me it looks like Black M6 with coll. Cron. I have seen another photo of him with that combo. Didn't know he used CLE though.

I like the photo, btw. Not your typical staged "master at work" pose.

If that's his favorite M3, was it black paint or just taped up?

Taped. Many years ago there was an article in (I think) the late and lamented Modern Photography about how HCB taped up his cameras to make them less noticable. At the time chrome was in and all you could get.

The copyright says '81 so it was probebly not a M6, black was an option for lots of early leicias but few people asked for it?
