In today's (London) Sunday Times ...

A Parisian photograph by Henri Cartier-Bresson (the one with the couple kissing at a pavement cafe, while a dog looks on from under the table) was used to illustrate a story. But, there was neither a credit for Magnum nor for HCB and - gasp - the picture was heavily cropped.

Sean in Tipperary
(It's a long way from Paris, but is similarly sophisticated)

You know it depends on how you look at it. You could say he was dissed for no mention of his name.
Personally I would be happy having an image used to "illustrate a story" in this case.
As long as the royalty was paid who cares if your name gets a light?

HCB cropped all the time. We all do. It is the nature of the beast.

Whaa? I am pretty sure he was very very famous for NEVER EVER cropping. That's why he insisted on having the first millimeter or something of the empty negatives around it to create a black frame, he even said so verbally himself, he said you don't improve your picture by darkroom tricks by cropping and such.

Here's a thread about HCB and cropping! 🙂
