Hi
I am new here, but I have recently been fortunate enough, thanks to a small legacy, to buy two black Leica IIs circa 1932/3 with nickel Elmars , which are quite diminutive, delicate and delightful...
I was amazed that Leica dealers and experts were totally unconcerned that I should hesitantly say that I wanted to USE these ancient cameras , their attitude being that , given adequate servicing , they would continue to provide the same experience , year in year out, as recognised by the great photographers who have always inspired me..
I have a mild , functional , but very disruptive autistic ''glitch'', but my six Leicas, and six USSR derivatives are the ONLY cameras in 50 years, that seem ''real ''to me ... That allow me to filter, and contain a confusing world , and , even when not in use, '' surround and ground '' me in a manner that my SLRs failed to do.
Maybe I am crazy, but maybe, Leica got something fundementally right ?
