Check this place out:
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Centralia,_Pennsylvania
I'll have a couple hours there on Saturday with my Leica M3, Nikon FE2 (w/ assortment of lenses), and Fuji 6x9.
Anyone else into shooting ghost towns?

Film is the other way
I've shot it. It might be good now because the steam doesn't show too well until there's cold. A couple of houses are still inhabited. One by the former mayor. It's interesting first hand, but a hard one to make something interesting photographically speaking. Check it out first hand, then you'll understand what I'm trying to say. Good luck!
BTW: The adjacent towns of Ashland and Mt Carmel are hardscrabble towns.. "just sayin"

Here's some shots from Saturday. I have more but they're on E-6 film so I'll post those when I get them back from the lab. This was just one of the C-41 rolls I had done at a One-Hour photo drug store lab. I actually had two other rolls done their but the disks they gave me were blank so I have to take them back and have them remake the disks.
As soon as I get my developing equipment and scanner back, I'll be doing this stuff myself again.
And there are still a couple people living there but I've heard they are trying to be evicted.

I got some shots of the abandoned stretch of 61 also. There was a dude in the middle of that section with a lemonade stand - like the devil selling lemonade at the gates of Hell. Very creepy indeed!
Two 4-wheelers zoomed through near the cemeteries. I snagged a shot with the M3 but need it scanned.
