heads up folks, new in the box M3

The camera is actually in Houston, Texas. :)

Good catch on the scam. Yes, he is in Houston TX and I've been following this fellow's purging of his Leica collection for several years now. An amzing collection, all in perfect condition. Boxed as new M2-R. Boxed as new 8-element 35 Summicron. Boxed as new IIIg. Name it-he had it in impeccable condition. We spoke a couple of years ago: he is getting older and getting rid of his amazing collection. If you can do a search of completed auctuions with his user name, you will a museum's worth of beautiful leica gear.

By the way, an FYI for all of you non-collectors (I do both, collect and shoot film): a CLA on a vintage Leica M means the "L" seal at 12 o'clock goes away, and that does reduce the collectible value of these boxed with cards Leica cameras. Want to shoot an M3? Don't get this one. Or get it and know you are the first to put film in it.

Please, can someone help me? I've only been using M3s for 2 years, and they both came without boxes. What exactly is the purpose of the box? My pictures seem to come out fine, but apparently I'm doing something wrong. I still have some other boxes, will I be able to use those instead?

While your M3 may still work I doubt you'll get the same Leica Glow or 3D look without the box.

I've just opened an Antique shop in Quebec, I have the item here with me. i would like to close this transaction through Ukash(available from local store near you because i don't like online payments) the delivery will be next day and i will pay the postal charges.
The transaction will be like cash on delivery, let me know if you're interested to use this service.

Regarding the "L" seal, don't Leica fit a new one if the camera goes for service at Solms? It's also the sort of thing that a Chinese plastic foundry would probably make 1,000 of if you wanted them to; if you can get good Leica lens caps and Leica PC caps made, a little "L" seal isn't a problem.

He just replied to me with the Quebec story, i emailed him back with a nice giant penis picture. I just don't get these people. I mean telemarketing and door to door sales are bad enough, but to try and scam people out of money...you really have to be souless. On top of this the people he does get are probably older folks who aren't used to online scams and need their money the most. I would love to find this guy and punch him in the face.
