Roland was kind enough to offer it to me first via a PM. Had it been last month, I'd have bought it, having whined for so long... but that Zeiss is my 50 Sonnar of choice now, thanks to Brian's work. Maybe my Canon 50/1.4 has to go? Not sure. I like the 1.8 better than the 1.4 for some reason, not sure why. As for collecting, if I don't use it, I don't want it.
Off topic, I just dusted off my Fed 2b with a Fed 10 50/3.5 collapsible. I forgot how pocketable this is!
Good catch there Jim. You won't regret it.
But if you should change your mind about keeping it, let me know.
Cheers,

GASitis.. finally cured?
I also have two Stepper IIIC`s that are also going up for full overhauls soon as well........I have a complicated month ahead. :bang:
Tom
I envy your Stepper IIIC's. I have been trying to read up some info on the older screwmount cameras. Do you suggest any book/resource?

Benny, you already have too many from the Canon stable.
Wow- that Canon went for a lot of money. It's a very nice lens. I can always tell which case has the Canon in it- like a solid chunk of brass and glass. I don't use it as much after picking up the Zeiss Jena Sonnar 5cm f1.5's.
Now: with the Canon, be careful of the oil getting on the surface behind the aperture. It will damage the glass. Spending this kind of money, send it to a really good repairman and have him get the old stuff out and relube it with something modern. Or be prepared to take it apart and clean it every three or so years.
And I KNOW why Jim does not feel the urge to buy one...

Strange, someone was laughing at me for picking up a later serial Mint one with perfect glass (and the <EP> mark) for just over $400.

Wow!!!!!!
$400 WAS A STEAL!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Well, a certain Canon expert told me a long time ago that he in like over 25 years saw maybe one of them that were <EP>* mine I had *a 1955* I bought from Kevin for nearly $600 with caps/hood (like 3 years ago!!!!!) and I`ve since sold it to a museum on a "minty" 1955 Canon IIF2 Rapid Winder <EP> camera.
This is the "new" cult lens, the Nikkor SC cut it`s teeth before this one and is now a legend......
(mine`s also sold today mint with caps and hood for $800 ~ thank you Cindy!!)
But, the Canon f1.5 as everyone knows is my "leiblings" lens!
Good Job it`s better than Gold in the bank Hacker!
