I'm no relation to the seller, can't vouch for him -etc, but I do notice that people here seem to be looking for these, and the Hansa/Walz versions don't come up that often. The guy has 3 of them for sale at this moment, black, slightly inverted cones (a-la Leica), $14.99 B.I.N. only. I emailed him to ask if he'll be getting more, and will post here if he says yes.

Oh yeah, they're here...

40.5 Vented hoods

I bought three of these hoods last week from the same seller. They're good stuff...sturdy, made of metal. Perfect for my Zeiss 50mm Sonnars.

I bought mine from Heavystar last week, and I'm waiting for the mail at this point.

If the auction is over (he posts BIN with qty's of 5 at a time) and it's usually sold out with a day or two, he always posts a new batch. Just check under "Lense Hoods" or "Nikon Lense Hoods".

Excellent hoods and the seller is very fast to ship.

I like mine. 🙂

The 40.5mm hoods I got aren't "sockeyed." I haven't measured them yet to determine a cap size but I'd guess around 55mm should do the trick. I plan to order Kaiser caps as soon as the NYC stores return from Passover break. 😎

sorry for the confusion, David.. I was asking our other member "sockeyed" what cap he was using.. no response from him yet.. but your knowledge would also be much appreciated

Hehe...pardon me while I pull my foot out of my mouth. 😱

Once I measure the hood and get the appropriate caps I'll definitely mention the brand and size here.

Well, I ended up getting 57mm Kaiser slip-on caps for the 40.5mm hoods. I tried a 56mm first but it was too small. The 57mm is just a touch loose, not enough to slip off but enough to not firmly grip the hood. It'll do, though. I may try out a 57mm B+W slip-on when I'm in NYC next week. If it's more snug than the Kaiser I'll buy a couple of 'em.
