Heavystar 40.5mm Hood.

Robert
I haven't got it yet but i'll check and let you know - won't be for a week or so.
Judging by the pic on ebay it looks like the front edge curves inwards a bit.
All my other generic 43mm fit the 55mm clip on front caps. I ordered it as an alternative to the Lecia screw in hood for the 50/2.8 elmar as i think this is a bit too shallow in very harsh sunlight.

Simon,

Thanks. It looks just like the clip-on hood that came with my 50mm Tabbed Summicron.

I just ordered a 39mm tele hood from Heavystar for my 90mm Tele-Elmarit. Need to spread the wealth 🙂

Yes it does but i think it's a screw in version but i might be wrong.

Spreading the Wealth - i like that.

I'm also a satisfied American Eagle customer.

Simon - that vented hood from Hong Kong that you linked to - does it accept 55mm caps like the others?

Hi Robert
the lenshood from:
http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dl..._Pr4_PcY_BIN_IT
arrived today very well made (unlike the one from Digibattery off ebay which arrived damaged and was a very poor thread fit) Edges curve inwards like the Leica ones and it looks like it takes a 49mm clip front cap.
Am impressed
Heavystar hood hasn't arrived yet so can't comment.

I received 3 hoods from heavystar, two 40.5's (one wide angle and one vented) and a 43. I got them mainly for my 40's for use on my CLE. Most hoods block the RF window, making focusing difficult, these don't. However, I'm hoping there isn't any vignetting, particularly on the 43mm hood for the CV 40/1.4. It looks like it could be a little tight.

Very nice hoods, however. The vented has a cap, it's plastic, but does the job. Shipping was very quick from Heavystar, but then again they are local to me.

There's no such thing as poor camera porn ! They look superb, and indded that's a superb looking CLE.

Mmmm, 40/1.4 SC, that's something I've found myself dreaming with lately. I'd love to tell more, but minors do visit this site.

Simon,

Thanks, mate. Now I've got 3 good choices for shades. I guess I need to buy another lens so I can get another one of these shades 🙂

Thanks, Oscar. I thought of you when I received my 40/1.4 (single-coated 😉 ). Your images on Single Coated are partly responsible for my lusting after this one. Thanks.
I'll get some images uploaded soon.

🙂

I am happy to report that the Heavystar hood pictured above on my CLE and the 40/1.4 Nokton does not cause vignetting of the image, nor does it block the RF window. Heavenly...

I have 3 of the heavystar hoods and no vignetting with any of them. Excellent quality products! Below is a pic of one on my 35mm Summilux ASPH.

Peter - ?

Peter - ?

Peter - is that a regular hood or the wide angle version?

I purchased a regular vented 39mm for my 50mm 'cron and I'm wondering if it would vignette with my 35mm 'cron asph.

Cover for 40.5 metal hood?

Cover for 40.5 metal hood?

I have this same wa hood as ray's 4th picture:

http://www.rangefinderforum.com/forums/attachment.php?attachmentid=18566&d=1138991125

for my 40/2 rokkor and am looking for some kind of cover that slaps over the hood as I don't use filters and keep this in a generic bag with rolls of film and stuff.

Any recommendations, besides just measuring my best and jury rigging a slightly larger cap with tape?

Ray,

Just to confirm, when you say there is no vignetting on the 40.5 hood with the 40mm rokkor-m, are you referring to the normal VENTED 40.5 hood (first picture), or specifically to the 40.5 WIDE ANGLE hood (last picture)?

thanks

IME, there will be no vignetting on the 40/2 M-Rokkor w/the regular 40.5mm vented hoods, whether from heavystar, Walz, Hoya, etc.

My experience as well.

Tom, in my post above I was referring to the 43mm Heavystar on the Nokton 40/1.4, BUT as furcafe reports, I've not noticed any vingetting with the vented on the rokkor. I've not used the 40.5 wide angle, yet. It seems a little shallow for the 40.

Are you considering a Heavystar hood?
