Hard to know where to post this hybrid.

I seem to have a Hektor 135 4.5 lens head in a Leica focusing mount (OTZFO/16464 ?). there seem to be two ways to mount this on a EOS camera.

One is using the Head Bartender's Leica Leica M to EOS adapter.

Second is mounting the lens head and focusing unit on a 16472/OTSRO which looks it will also need a Leica LTM to Leica M adapter and then a Leica M to EOS adapter.

Questions:

1) Taking the Headbartender's route -- do I need other pieces to make this work? to interface the focusing unit to the M to EOS adapter?

2) Taking the Leica route -- will the 16472/OTSRO plus the appropriate mount adapter get me to infinity? or am I missing something?

Anybody with experience with either of these routes or the equipment?

Thanks.

Giorgio

There is a reason Leitz is called the "Lord of the Rings". There are several ways to mount a 135 Hektor lens head.

To use the OTZFO focusing mount, you need the 16472 adapter/extension tube. So the head goes in 16472, then that combo goes into OTZFO. You then need a Visoflex II/III (M bayonet) to EOS adapter.

Other options are ZOOAN with OUBIO then the EOS adapter. Or the Focorapid system. Then there is the Bellows II.

All of these pieces (except Focorapid) are readily available on E-bay or from the larger used Leica dealers.

its been a while since I played with my Viso adapters and dont have access to them now, so hope am not proving wrong information.

note also that Hektor/Elmar version can have its play will infinity work on some set of Viso adapters.

but, methinks second option should work: Hektor lens head + Visoflex (16472/OTSRO extension tube & 16464/OTZFO focusing) + M-EOS adapter should be all that is needed.

edit: ok View Range had same codes then me :)

Thanks, View Range and jar ski, that's very helpful information and helped me see I misidentified what I have.

Turns out I have the lens head and the ZOOAN/16495, not the OTZFO/16464.

So, I need an OUBIO/16466M and then an M to EOS adapter to mount it on an EOS camera, but will this get me to infinity? The OUBIO seems designed to make up the difference in the length of the Viso 1 and 2.

(Lens head into ZOOAN into OUBIO into M to EOS) Infinity?

Thanks again.

You can use it on a macro bellows. Check out the rig in this link (not mine).
I have used a similar set up with Enlarger lenses. It works fine.
Infinity is questionable depending on the bellows/lens head.

Thanks again.

Ko.Fe, The lens heads are not rangefinder coupled once dismounted from the lens body.

The various early detachable 135mm lens heads with various attachments were made to mount on a visoflex and provide infinity focus on a Leica. Thus theoretically, since the EOS lens register is greater than the M lens register, mounting the set of attachments (lens head+focusing unit+ plus extension tube) on a tube that is thinner than the Visoflex by the difference between the EOS lens register and the M lens register should get one to infinity.

f16sunshine. Exactly, I'm simply trying to find out whether a rigid part already exists, allowing more convenient hand holding than a bellows. The ZOOAN provides the focusing feature, so I just need to identify whether an adapter exists that puts the assembly far enough out to get me to infinity.
