Leica LTM Hektor 135, arrow on barrel, what's for?

There is a little arrow engraved on my newly arrived Hektor 135...what's for?

I compared this to my M-Mount Hektor 135 and I think the arrow is oriented very close to where the red mounting index dot is located on the M lens. Maybe someone added the arrow for use in mounting when an adapter was on the lens?

Leica screw mount cameras have a mark at the 9:00 position on the side of the mount. This arrow should line up with it when screwed on.

From this lens: first roll, not bad from an early uncoated lens, the framing with the viooh was spot on.
