Helios 103 filter size

I have recently purchased a Helios (Gelios) 103 53mm f/1.8 Soviet lens for my Nikon S2. Everything I have found so far states that the lens takes a 40.5mm x 0.5 thread pitch filter. Not so with this lens, a 40.5mm filter is too large. Do I have the world's only oddball Helios 103 lens, or is everyone incorrect on the filter size? I believe that the filter size is 40mm, but before I spring for a filter, I would like to verify the size. Can someone give me direction?

Both of mine are 40.5

check for dents on the thread or dirt that will not allow you to mount the filter.

My copy of the lens also takes 40.5 mm filters. Did you adjust the lens for the Nikon focus?
