I've got one of those mounted to a CV 40/1.4. It's eh. I haven't tried a Hawk's, so maybe this is the norm, but it's wobbly* and really needs an infinity lock. It does make a significant different for the close focusing, so I'll put up with the annoyances.
* it's wobby because the "helicoid" isn't made with very tight tolerances. It does "focus" relatively smoothly.
