Welcome.
During the 12 years I lived Germany, up through the late 1990s, I can't even begin to count the number of Germans who called me "Winz" with a soft-W sound that hardly exists in the language. I bought nearly all of my gear from Fotoboersen in Munchen and Stuttgart, including my S2 and S3. My American wife and I were married in Fuerth (Bayern, nicht Odenwald), and I still wear my wedding ring on my European hand.
Take care,

Kevin said:Hallo Reinhard,
Welcome to the forum!
Just to make sure you aren't an imposter(we have been terrorized by a banned member with a form of mental disease), please be so kind as to answer the following questions in grammatically-perfect German (ie. no grammar, spelling or capitalization mistakes).
1. Warum gefällt Dir die Meßsucherkamera? (Why do you like the rangefinder camera?)
2. Wie hast Du dieses Forum gefunden? (How did you find this forum?)
3. Warum schreibst Du Englisch nur mit Kleinbuchstaben? (Why do you write english with only lowercase letters?)
We hope you enjoy this forum, Reinhard!
viele Grüße,
Kevin

Woher kommst Du in Deutschland ?
France.
Voigtlaender macht immer noch tolle Kameras, unter anderem das Heliar, eins der schaerfsten Objektive, die es gibt.
Eihrelander macht beir. Lots of it.
Hast Du auch Interesse an neueren RFs ?
Nein, Heather Locklear.
Herzliche Gruesse,
Roland.
PS: ich bin seid 9 Jahren in Kalifornien.

Yeah, I had a rash looked like that once, too. The doctor gave me this stuff that made it go away.

I agree with Kim. I'd hate to be welcomed with someone interrogating my identity, but also my ethnic authenticity, level of education, and gosh, to be accused of shaming my nationality by leaving out a few caps?
I'd be suprised to ever see this new member back here, but if you are reading, welcome to the forum. We've had some problems recently and it appears our site has come under attack from some nasty individuals (of sound mind or not), who have, in the past, made it a habit of reappearing under fraudulent IDs. So we're all a little suspicious and on edge since RFF is a great place that we want to preserve. That explains the above behavior, but I'm sure it doesn't excuse it.
I feel we need to maintain who we are as a welcoming place, or the attacker has done his job and ruined RFF and what makes it a nice place to be.
If you look back at the history, the frauds do tend to expose themselves eventually.
sincerely,
doug

Hey guys, let's not climb too high on our horses here, If I was a newcomer, and once I understood what was going on with regard to the recent attacks, I'd just laugh and give the "proof" requested. Not that big of a deal under the circumstances.

If this is a hoax it portrays Germans to be uneducated, which couldn't be further from the truth. Germans are on average extremely well-educated and well-spoken in the languages they wish to know.
Trotzdem Reinhard,
also a warm welcome from myself.

I am quite good at typing with one hand. Well, you'd have to be, if you'd seen what I've seen. And I often have to squint or turn my head to one side as well.
