Hello Tom, i have been reading and enjoying this forum for a while, and i gather, you would have the inside scoop and probably already used and
tested this new lens, it is way out of my price range, but your people would still love to know, i don't have the mp yet either thanks alan

I did know it was coming - but, alas, I haven't tested one. The old Summilux 35f14 Asph was getting a bit long in the tooth and though very good - it had problems, flare, focus shift, fragile hood etc.
The new one has the floating element so that should improve close focussing performance (the current 35f1.4 Asp is OK in that respect - but no star).
The price is high, to put it mildly, almost $4500 for a mundane 35f1.4!!! The performance is most likely "better" than the older one - but will it make a huge difference - I dont know. I am not in the market for one - had the 35f1.4 Asph - but got rid of it mainly because of the previously mentioned shortcomings and I am perfectly happy with my 35f1.2 for serious low light work with a 35.
