hello, world!

Good point...

tr0x,
Do you have the means to measure the distance between the lens mount and film plane? It's supposed to be 28.80mm but often isn't. Some of the earlier cameras had the lens/body combination adjusted to be correct, then later in life the lens was changed and no longer matches. If the lens-to-film measures correctly and the RF is correct then the lens itself may require re-shimming.

Considering Occam's Razor, perhaps it might be more likely that it is a rangefinder problem. After all, the adjustment is easy. Shim adjustment is another matter.

At the moment i don't have a proper tool to check that... i've only a crappy plastic caliper 😡
What should i look for, something like these?

That would do the job but it's rather expensive! A modern digital caliper is what I use and mine cost me only £10. Before you rush out and spend on a guage though, check the RF calibration. Focus is pretty certain to be off unless that's right. Use a flat bar across the mount and measure off that.

The other quick check would be to set the lens on infinity, wide open, and shoot something that's quite distant - preferably in the hundreds of meters rather than tens. If that comes out wrong then I'd certainly suspect either the lens or body register. Ideally you need to get both of them right rather than compensating one with the other, otherwise you'll have an issue with other lenses if and when you use them.

Ok, i'll shoot another roll and check for focusing issues again 😉

Well it could be both! I have found it necessary to do both adjustments on several of my fsu rangefinders. I have found trial and error, involving photographing a target at 2m to be the easiest method of determining what shims are required.

yesterday i've found the FED 2 in my mailbox! 😀
I've bought it from leon1965jazz, the camera seems in very good conditions, much better than the zorki somewhere in the EU. Now i wonder if my zorki has something wrong since its shutter is louder than the one found on the FED2... and also the winding knob is much smoother on the FED... However i just love my zorki, it's my favourite and imho it seems also better built...
Now i've got to shoot a test roll and post some pics, so stay tuned!
😎
