Help—Bess R film advance lever stuck

The film advance lever on my beautiful second hand Bessa R hung up this weekend. The shutter is in a closed position, and removing the film was no problem. In fact eveything seems normal—shutter release button depresses, film release and rewind work fine, even the light meter comes on when film advance lever is cocked.

I've checked some of the other threads and tired manually rolling the take up spool—it reset, then the lever jammed again four frames later.

Any advice on quick and reliable repair (I need it working by May 8th) would be greatly appreciated.

I'd suggest writing Stephen Gandy at Cameraquest. He does have a camera repair business and he knows more about Bessa's than just about anybody Stateside. If anyone would know a quick fix for this, it would be him.

Also do a site search here. I seem to recall someone else having this problem a couple of month's back and there was a "quick fix" that avoided having to send out for repair.
