Help, advice for Minox 35 problem

I have a Minox 35 GL that overlaps frames considerably after about half a roll of film has been advanced onto the take-up reel....... slippage between the take-up spool and the advance lever. Had the same problem with this camera years ago and had it repaird by DAG. With the camera considerably older now and worth much less, I don't think it would be worth the cost of sending it out again for repair.

Is there anyone on the forum who is familiar with Minox 35's who could advise if/how I could repair it myself? Are special tools needed? Looks like the top deck needs to be removed to get at where the advance lever is connected to the top end of the take-up spool.

I'm actually discouraged to read your post; I got a Minox 35 GL in great condition...until one night I was loading a roll, and the mechanism just got stuck. Just like that. It's over at DAG. Sounds like these are failure prone. I advise against taking the top; you could end up breaking it further; the top covers electronic parts and as far as I know there is no direct access to the take up spool. I think the repair is worth it unless you want to buy another one, and take a chance.

That's the problem with these cameras, the repair is more costly than a replacement. I have 3 Minox 35 diff models, all in need of service.

'Tis a shame, because they are darn good little cameras.

Touch wood (or makrolon), my GT has never given me any problems.

Call DAG and talk to them, if it wasn't repaired that long ago, maybe they'll do you a deal. If it is not worth sending off for repair, then you don't have a great deal to lose my carefully taking it apart.
