I'm missing the rear eyepiece cover for the viewfinder on my Konica Hexar AF. Does anyone know where I could find a new/used replacement, or perhaps a substitute?
Thanks,
Jeff

So you're the one! Why should I help you find an eyepiece when you beat me out on that Hexar while I was wasting time googling for a replacement?
I think you got a good deal if it is as described. From what I read the Hexar RF also had a problem with them coming off, but it was worse because the view was blurry without it. You just have to deal with the cosmetic and dust issues.
I didn't really come up with anything definite on my initial search, except that original parts are rare if not nonexistent. But I think you have a decent shot at finding a clear eyepiece that fits. Could it be the same size as Nikon circular diopter lens, which I think also fit the R-D1? A Megaperls magnifier maybe, which unscrews to allow diopter lenses? The threads (are there threads?) must match also of course. See this thread including photos:

Would the rear most piece of the Megaperl possibly fit?

[EDIT] I now see they also sell an adapter so the magnifier (pictured below) fits the Hexar RF. They say the adapter "slips" in, doesn't screw in, so maybe you don't have threads either. Maybe that will fit the AF, but the adapter probably doesn't have glass. They don't have a photo.
If the end piece (with glass?) of the Megaperls magnifier screws into the RF adapter, and the RF adapter fits the Hexar AF, then you are good to go, for $122.00. Wouldn't that be cool? I would contact them if I were you.

I'm posting a pic of your camera (small world huh?
) so others more knowledgeable than I can heip.
Try to find the correct measurement and when you find one you'll feel great about fixing it yourself and the price you paid.
All is forgiven as I lucked into another "buy it now" yesterday morning. I'm happy because it is a black original, but comes with the later model silver Hexar slip on cap, which I prefer.
I think we both did well as the prices of these things are high at the moment, at least on the auction site.
Good luck.

Try contacting these people: http://www.photostop.net/Index.html.
Not very long ago I was looking for a replacement eyepiece for my Hexar RFand these people had one but in a power of 2 diopters (can't remember if + or -). I think the Hexar RF and AF share the same accessory eyepieces. Once you get it, all you'll need is the Megaperls eyepiece adapter for Leica and then get a used Leica diopter accessory lens to compensate for the Hexar eyepiece but of opposite sign. So, for example if it's a -2 diopter lens, You'll need a +1 or +2 Leica diopter eyepiece lens to bring the combined power down to -1 diopter (standard for Konica) or 0 diopter (my preference) respectivey.

Thanks for the help. Sorry about beating you out. Quite honestly when I saw the Hexar I thought the price was a typo. I was half expecting the seller to pull out of the transaction.
I sent the camera off to KEH, they seemed to think they could find a substitute. The upside to missing the rear eyepiece cover is I don't have to worry about scratching my glasses.

So it's not the entire eyepiece but just the rubber ring that surrounds the eyepiece?

Awilder - Yes. The glass seems to be all there. It's just the beauty ring that surrounds the rear of the eyepiece. Technically I think it's called a thingamabob.

That's good. I guess it's not exactly the same as the eyepiece on the Hexar RF. I'm sure KEH will find a suitable replacement for the rubber ring.
