Help is needed!

I just took out film from my camera and film that was in was actualy Ilford PanF 50, I thought it was HP5 400 🙁 so I had rated my camera iso 400 :bang: What do I do now? How do I push it? Can I push it? I have 2 developers, t-max and Ilfosol... is there any way I can save this film?

Sorry to hear that mate...I have no clue but I 'm sure the darkroom brigade will soon come to the rescue...Perhaps it wont be much solace but I 've also just wasted a PanF today, thinking my camera was in aperture priority while I had a shutter speed of 1/4000. I just had to throw the film away. Serves me right for leaving my rangefinder behind and taking out an SLR...

Okey, I have to develope it today otherwise I wont have time until next weekend, so what I am going to do is, develope it in t-max around 8-9 minutes 🙂

I'm no expert for Pan F, but what I see in the Ilfosol S datasheet it is possible to push it to EI200 with 7 1/2 minutes in 1+9. I don't think that you have to push it another stop, the films latitude should cover this.

Sorry to hear this! I use PAN F a lot and have only ever rated it up to iso 125...(I normally rate it down to iso 25)... please let us know the results when you've developed it.....It might be worth trying !

I just developed it in t-max dilution 1/4 around 9 minutes, so far negative looks awfull 🙂 It is very bright which means it will be very dark, at the moment it is drying, will post photos couple of minutes later...

These are general guidelines when no published development times are available. To use this chart multiply the published time at recommended ASA by the factor in parenthesis (ie. If Tri-X rated at 400ASA is normally developed for 6 mins in a standard soup, then when Tri-X is pushed three stops to 3200ASA development would be: 6 x 4.5 = 27 mins). Please use these recommendations as starting points only. In many cases these times will prove excessive, but when all else fails they can be a good guideline. Please note separate data for Tmax films.

Standard Developer
1 stop push = (x1.5)
2 stop push = (x2.25)
3 stop push = (x4.5)

Compensating Developer
1 stop push = (x1.4)
2 stop push = (x1.85)
3 stop push = (x2.5)


TMax Films
1 stop push = no change
2 stop push = (x1.33)
3 stop push = (x1.66)
