Birds left. Both are good but the one on the left is special.

I'm with everyone else on this. The photo at right seems so "centered". I think it doesn't convey movement as well as the one on the left.

Birds left. When right, I feel a little too much drawn to the centre and not being able to experience all the other elements (clouds, trees etc.) as a whole.

Very nice, but I'd try flipping it horizontally so the birds are on the right - gives more the impression of migration/leaving, etc. Think it's because we read and scan left to right.

It's like classic ship photography - if there is more free space or 'room' in front of a ship it appears as if she coming into the picture; if more behind the ship, she's going out the image.

Definitely birds left. There's an element of Western aesthetic called "dynamic imbalance" ... a centered object implies balance and lack of motion whereas an uncentered object implies motion and tension.

I wouldn't "flop" it. But that's because I'm a purist. However, the most "successful" photographs do tend to have the action moving from left to right, because of the way Westerners read and view the world. In this instance, the distinction might be too subtle to make a difference.
