Help me choose which Leica.

Now, with quite a few other M models to choose from its not worth the investment for someone just buying into a digital M for the first time in late 2015. The only advantage is price and its simply not enough of an advantage.
I disagree with that as a current M8 user. If my camera dies beyond reasonable repair, my best replacement option really is another M8/M8.2. Sure, the new M is technically a much improved product and the new Monochrom is the current camera I would most like to have, but price is not only a (dis)advantage. It is a barrier.

This camera is not quirky in my opinion, and it has proven to be the most reliable serious digital I have owned or orherwise used a lot.

I'm leaning back at the 8 after doing more research into the issues with the 9. If I find one for a sensible amount I'll buy it. I'll then need a 50 equivalent lens. The frame lines show for an equivalent I assume? Stick a 23 on it'll **** the 35?

I spoke to all the main Leica dealers in London this morning. None accept or sell the M8 now due to a 'total lack of support from Leica'. Same story from all. Asked about the M9, they all gave me the same response - aside from the sensor issue there are servicing issues apparent already. Leaves me with no confidence, which is a real shame. I can't buy until December now anyway due to a house fix but probably will look for the R-D1 instead.

I know of at least one M8 that was in service during the summer. The owner had the camera checked by Leica before putting it on the sale block. Leica changed some part and performed the "normal" rangefinder adjustments and cleaning. If there is a total lack of support, it has been put in place in the past month or so. More likely, the dealers have their own business reasons to spread incorrect information. It happens a lot.
