I have a dilemma. I live in Turkey where I cant easily find film (35mm). Film is getting expensive and I dont want to spend too much as I dont shoot to often. I use rodinal. I like fp4 but it is too expensive for me to buy bulk or 18 rolls. Basedon availability and cheapest prices, I came up two options from two stores:

10 rolls of neopan acros 100
4 rolls of tmax 100
4 rolls of fp4
Costs 85 eur

16 rolls of ilford pan 100 (a cheap variety similar to kentmere available in some countries)
2 rolls of fp4
Costs 74 eur

Why I buy 18 rolls ? Because I try to match what I would get from 100ft bulk film which I used to buy from maco. The prices went so up so it costs 62 eur for 100ft apx100. Or 70 eur for silvermax. Besides last time Turkish customs opened the bulk film ruining half of my roll.

So which option you would choose?

Why not just 18 rolls of Pan 100?

I don't see the point of having just 2 rolls of FP4+, even though it's your favourite. If it's out of your budget then it's out of your budget, time to find a new favourite.

I would say go for the second option. Get used to the ilford pan and eventually you will be able to get the best out of it in terms of shooting it and developing it. Switching between films is just a distraction if you cannot afford it eventually.

Then again, if FP4 is your favorite, you could get 85 euros worth of it and shoot it more selectively, to make it last.

Why don't you try ORWO UN54 (100 iso) or ORWO N74 (400 iso)-both are highly rated, and still cheap! You can order 100 feet (or 400 feet) bulk right from the factory: http://www.filmotec.de/?page_id=30

I checked the link, only some text about the films there but no shopping online on site.
Checking on eBay suggests that the price for bulk roll is not cheap, at least compare to on par products such as kentmere 100&400

Yes I got the same feeling. I couldn't find anywhere else but on ebay and it ain't cheap.

P.s.I checked the article at japan camera hunter posted above. He mentioned emailing the factory and he says they are responsive. I emailed him and we shall see. I will keep you updated.

Wow guys the orwo factory responded and gave me the cheapest price, 52 euro for 100ft un54 including shipping. I think I will go with that one.
