I just received a Fujica Super Six folder, and it's beautiful. However, the shutter button doesn't actually activate the shutter. It depresses okay, and I can see it move a bar down inside the camera to the left of the bellows looking in, but it doesn't seem to connect somehow and trip the shutter. So, I have to pull down a lever just below the lens to trip the shutter. Any idea how I could repair that myself, or should I just return the camera as defective? Thanks in advance.

The linkage from the shutter release button should connect (just touch) the shutter release lever (the one your tripping manually). The you push the shutter release button it should trip the shutter lever. Sometimes the release linkage at the shutter lever gets bent a little bit and doesn't trip the shutter. A little manipulation should make it right. Then again if the camera is really nice andd the price was reasonable I (as in me myself) would just live with it and continue to trip the shutter at the lens.

There used to be a nice writeup about Super Fujica-6 repair on Kan's Camera website but it seems to be down at the moment. It could still be accessible through web.archive.org though.

I have archived a PDF copy of a Google translated version of this webpage. Here's an image from this PDF. The shutter linkage is the part circled in magenta (the yellow one is the rangefinder linkage):

You should check if this linkage is not bent or misaligned.

Anyway, as stated in your post, it is still possible to activate the shutter on your camera by depressing the lever on the lens barrel.

You can also access a page on shutter repair here.

One last remark: you will get more hits on the search engines if you look for "Super Fujica-6" (the official name) rather than "Fujica Super Six."

Good luck with the repair. The camera is worth it!

Cheers!

Any chance I could get a copy of that PDF?
