Hi there guys,

So I have a problem with my Bessa R3a. The shutter release button when pressed does not work. The Shutter Advance Lever seems stuck. When I open the back of the camera, the shutter is closed. The light meter works so I don't think it is the battery. Can any one help? Should I take it back to Adorama where I bought it?

Thanks in advance for your assistance.

If you just got the cam in the mail, I'd take out the batts....wait a while and put them in.

Also, try turning the shaft (use your finger tip) at the side of the film gate (in the back of the camera) with the film sprocket teeth at either end.

so pushing the film take up spool with my finger is met with resistance. I can't recall if this is more or less than when the camera was working. The shutter advance lever only moves about 30 degrees and then won't go any further...

When my Nikon FG and FE2 jams up like this due to a weak battery (not dead, meter moves), turning it to X-sync kicks in the manual speeds and unjams the shutter and film advance. Does the R3a also have a "mechanical" X-sync, or is it 100% electronic shutter?
