Help Solve Mystery of Father-in-Law's Camera

Here's a photo taken in Osaka in early 1960. It's scanned from an old photo album. I've attached the full photo, and a close-up just of the camera. Unfortunately, his focusing was off when he took this photo in the mirror so I can't get the image any crisper than you see it.

Can anyone tell me what kind of rangefinder my father-in-law is holding? He has passed away, and no one in the family has any idea.

I'd say it looks like a Konica iiig, but the older Konica's have no writing in between the viewfinder windows.
