Hello Chaps,
my R-D1 turned up today,
went out for a play but after 15 shots the camera will not take photos anymore - the shutter will not fire!
The camera came with no battery as it was within the EU and aparently youre not aloud to post them!
I am using a 3rd party battery - could this be the problem? - but like I've already said the camera was fine for 15 shots then stopped!
does anyone have an orig battery I could try/purchase if you think this could be the problem?

Also there is no light meter values in the viewfinder (there was when the camera was working though)

Didn't the RD1 have a battery meter on top: what does that meter tell you?

Update, shutter still stuck with new battery, but if a give the camera a slight knock on the base with the palm of my hand it frees, but then will stick as soon as the shutter is armed again!
Any one know of a fix?

Give this a try:
Insert a not-so-sharp pin into the cable release hole (the hole on shutter release button) and press it, the shutter may fire again.
Sorry if it doesn't work.

I actually tried this already - no joy - camera is on its way back to shop for refund.
