Help with a bag please

Basically, I am searching for a new camera bag after upgrading gear and I would like some feedback. Should I go w/ a backpack, a sling bag, a side bag? So, if you could just tell me a little about your camera bag (brand, type, quality, acsessability, etc.) and just give a little bit about why you like it or don't and it would help me out a lot. I am currently interested in the Tamrac velocity 9. I love the sling idea and would especially like some info on this. Remember, anything helps. Thanks.

Dear Friend,

The Bag Issue seems to be as complex one as the Strap or Wrist one, randomly emerging again and again since the Paleontological Age of our RFF. Therefore you may help yourself better if you give some hints about what type of photography or photographic situations you need that bag to serve you, and more than a hint about the gear it should contain inside.

Otherwise this thread will continue to be a great one for self expression, in this deep philosophycal problem, but hardly one to help your specific needs.

Cheers,
Ruben

I have quite a few camera bags. I also suffer from BAS (bag acquisition syndrome). It is an incurable disease though probably not as bad as GAS.

I find for RFs that I use a Tamrac Digital 6 if I just want to take out a camera with one lens. It has room for a few films and a filter or two. It is also a perfect fit for my Holga or Diana.

I also just got a Lowepro Mini AW. It is a perfect fit for an RF+3 lens kit. So now I can pack a Bessa with lens attached, 2 extra lenses and still have room for a few rolls of film and filters, batteries etc. It is pretty light and I think about as small as I can get away with for this purpose. It also has the all weather cover tucked away inside the front pouch just in case.

I just found out a IIIc + Summicron is WAY too heavy for a jacket pocket.. I now need to find a tiny inconspicuous small pouch to hide under a jacket instead!

So, my wife lost her Social Security card. "Where is it, you have everything organized and filed someplace, I can't find it." File cabinet, alphabetical order.... seems logical to me.

Well, I didn't have her SS card, after an interrogation (she is an attorney, I get cross examined all the time, if I am ever in court for real man am I going to be a tough nut to crack after all this practice) I make the statement, "maybe it is time to check the 20 pocketbooks hanging in your closet." Well what do you know, a couple hours later she comes down stairs, SS card in hand.

Well, I snuck up stairs too, checked all the pockets of my camera bags, found 3 rolls of film, 6 quarters, the quick release plate for my tripod and RC1 remote control for my EOS.

RFF, the place men can talk in comfort about their pocketbooks to other men.

I saw a similar Crumpler bag like that.. It fitted the Contax-II in comfortably. I nearly bought it on the spot, but there are very few times I'll be without my indie bag. Maybe I'll stick to the leather man-purse that the Standard came in - it worked well with a shoulder strap attached
