Help with battery drain

Hi,

I bought a well functioning GSN a month ago and enjoying it so far. I bought a new duracell lithium battery (camera already had the battery adapter from yashica guy), and after running 3 rolls through the camera is already showing me a weak signal. I don't cock the shutter when storing the camera and I keep the shutter release locked. What might be the problem?

P.S: i found that i could release the shutter even with the shutter release on "locked" position and that rotating knob is rather lose-can it me not functioning well?

Sounds curiously like a POD problem...

Also, the locking knob has a tab attached to it that rotates over the window structure to keep the button from depressing. If you can trip the shutter with it in the locked position, then that tab is either bent or broken, I would say.

I've been using 4LR44 too and been having problems where the battery would go flat pretty quick. However, I've just read through these posts and found nothing that would help so I had a look in the battery compartment and noticed (cos I hadn't really looked before) that the screw cover makes contact with the inner ring at the end of the compartment. I took the cover and slighty and carefully bent the contacts on the cover. I put the 'flat' battery back in and it seems to have burst back into life so it must have been a shorting problem. Cool.

I've read that putting paper around the battery helps eliminate the shorting but I'm not quite sure what shorting it's helping with. If anyone can enlighten me on this one?
