A wonderful and under-appreciated lens...used to great advantage in these wonderful pictures - thanks!

Ever since seeing what the Tele ELmar can do - in a book by Brian Bowker called "Leica M Photography" I have been tempted to buy one. He rated it as being one of the best Leica lenses (of the books era- about 10 years back) if I recall correctly. I just do not use 135mm often enough to warrant it but its still tempting given their quality and their price has fallen a lot in recent years.......... I "make do" at the moment with a Canon 135 in black/silver. Its a fine lens = good enough considering the frequency with which I use it.

It is a mistake to think that you can't use the 135 on the M exept the M3!
On my M4 I use regularly the Hektor 4,5/135. It is another way of working than with the 135 on a SLR! It is a typical 'snap shot' lens. It gives nice results!
N.B. at the moment you can buy a M 135 very cheap. I bought my Hector (mint) for €100,- The price for a Tele Elmar is about €195,-

I agree, Joop. A couple of decades back I used a Hektor 135 regularly with an M2. After lots of trial and error, I found that the RF patch pretty much approximated the FOV of the 135. I later was able to pick up a used multifinder of FSU origin and it simplified matters a great deal! I always enjoyed the reach of the 135.

Bravo Mauro Bravo, beautiful photos. Shows us all, that you don`t need the latest and greatest to produce excellent photos. In number two, (if I squint) I can just see the glint of a centurians helmet.

Mauro, I've enjoyed your images but i have a question. Leitz lenses are nobility; but are they gendered?

The tele-elmar has quite a sensual form one might say

My M5s need red dots!
Thanks for posting these beautiful images, Mauro. I've been searching for a 90mm or a 135mm for my M4-2 system... and you've shown what these lenses do in the hands of a good photographer.
Keep them coming!

These are beautiful pictures! Thanks for posting these and giving me something to look forward to
. I recently bought a 135mm Tele-Elmar from the classifieds here on RFF from a fellow RFF'er. I have not had an opportunity to use mine on my M3 since I received the lens.
