"A series of portraits of British soldiers over a period of eight months, before, during and after their operational deployment in Afghanistan. The portraits are captioned with the thoughts and feelings of each individual. They speak of fear, being injured, losing a brother soldier, missing home, excitement, coming home, and what life is like on the frontline." Lalage Snow.

I'm thinking about how my friends changed while we were in Iraq. My friend Grant's hair went from dark, dark, almost black to bright salt and pepper off-white within only a month after we got hit by a volley of 122mm rockets and our friend Eric died.

Thanks for the link. Some of the portraits even show the mental change (scarring) imo. War is a crime period and soldiers on all sides are the poor bast**rds that are supposed to fight so that some creatures can fill their pockets.

I saw these a while ago, but on reviewing them here I noticed a lot of the change for some of the people simply seems to be from the different lighting used in each portrait.

I was an infantryman in the Army and deployed many times to Iraq and Afghanistan. This is a normal "change" weight loss from more activity, heat and change of diet. Everyone looks like that after a patrol or mission, they will be back to themselves in a week or two after getting home. These photos show nothing out of the ordinary, some look staged to me.

War is NOT a crime. It is needed for progress.

agreed, lighting is completely different, also camera position (height of camera stand) is very different. changes are noticeable but i think artificially increased.
