hexar af

What I have seen come from that camera is really impressive. To me, it looks sharper than the 35mm Summicron. We have an artist here on RFF that shoots exclusively with the Hexar AF, and it really looks medium format.

If I didn't just spend $600 on a digital P&S for my stealthy work, the Hexar would have been my #1 choice.

i feel guilty enough liking the cl as much as i do.

it seems crazy to leave the zi home as much as i do.
That's some testament to the CL. I was at Eastman House today, and in one of the small halls where different cameras are normally dispalyed, there was a prototype ZI w/ 50/f2 in a glass case. I found myself looking around to see if security were watching... it is the first time I've evern seen the ZI or a new ZM lens. Serial numbers were 11 for the body and 5 for the lens. They looked so yummy, I couldn't imagine it leaving my hands if I had them, though I'd likely start out with the 25 if I could only afford one lens.

So, if your ZI starts whining about being left alone and ignored...

I can sympathize. I really was feeling that way when I put the 7 up on ebay since it didn't sell here... :bang:

Joe, I sold my Hexar AF to help pay for the R-D1. I don't regret buying the R-D1 but the day I put that AF in the mail was a very, very dark one. It was either that or the CLE and I still don't know if I sold the right camera. My current fantasy is that Sony will do one in digital using the original lens. After all, the R-1 isn't like all the other bridge digicams out there so there is hope.

interesting, cle or af and you chose the cle. it kinda makes sense as it takes the m lenses.
yeah, that would be a tough one.

i'd like a cle or at least another cl for those times i might want 2 cameras at the ready. but the af is unique in that it has a great lens.
for me i guess time will tell.

lol

lol

that's what I did (an *ist at that!)

it takes a lot of confidence to go all auto when you know you're good with manual stuff. But take a look at the results. I did that, and realized my best shots were coming from the hexar, and took it out of the classifieds asap as well.

At the risk of taking this thread off topic 🙂 what digital P&S did you select? (And does it have an optical viewfinder?)
