Hey, Back Alley Joe........

not goin' too far!

an update, well, so far nothing too exciting.
i have been lucky in that many folks have brought over food so i have not had to do much cooking at all.
the short walks i'm allowed usually tire me out pretty good and i have to remember to walk up & down the stairs (to the computer) very slowly. i forgot i had a heart attack a few nites ago and ran up the stairs to get the door and i was huffin' & puffin' for awhile.

sugar is home. she was delivered to me on tuesday nite and we both had a bit of a cry when everyone left. she helps to 'normalize' the place for me. thank goodness she likes to sleep as much as i do. if i'm in the chair she is usually next to me on the floor and if i'm in bed then she is in her own bed at the foot of mine.

the tiring thing is the phone calls and the visits. thankfully, everyone has kept them short.
i don't regret them but i'm amazed at how tired i can be after even a short visit.

and that's pretty much it.
i think i'm caught up with all the emails & p.m.'s from you folks but if i missed anyone please trust it was an oversight.
all the kindness and caring sent my way is somewhat overwhelming but much appreciated.

joe

You had a heart attack?!?! Holy! Where have I been? This is the first I've heard of it!! Glad to see you're doing alright.

Joe, please take it a tad easier, I didn't realize you've been really sick, you've had a real scare (and the rest of us on the RFF have been scared also). Go easy for a while. The behaviour of the forum is improving from an already freindly polite bunch to an even more freindly and polite bunch. Look after yourself.

Someone very close to me just had a heart attack now, a few hours ago. It was his first; he had no idea what was going on and wanted to go to bed. I immediately had Joe on my mind and the stuff I learned in paramedical training back in '99 came up and so he's in hospital now. They did some tests and his condition is stable. Gee, is it the season for it, or what?

*Sigh*... we all need to take better care of ourselves.

Joe, your motto for recovery should be:

"When the going gets tough the tough get going !"

You have luck to have Sugar around, dogs are probably our best conversation partners when we have to cope with inevitable hard times in our lives....

Take care...

hoot, sorry about your friend. it's the after heart attack stuff that i find more scarey now.
did he have surgery or is he under observation for the moment?

Joe,
Good to read that all is going well...sounds as though you're taking good care. Thank you for keeping us updated -- if you don't hear from us that doesn't mean you are not in our thoughts...Best wishes for a speedy and healthy recovery!!!

thanks doug!
i realize not everyone will write or make a public statement, that's more than ok.
i am just amazed at how many people have.
it's a bit humbling...

Thanks. The doctor said that no surgery will be necessary since he got there so fast. He is under observation and will have to undergo rehab for a few weeks.
