Hey folks, World Football Cup started

Well not much Lehmann could have done with the first goal, awesome strike... but the second goal was pretty soft. Still a great game that could have gone either way.

Its all over... so sad....

It was one of the greatest football games ever, nor Italy nor Germany deserved to get kicked out of the world cup, but one had to go.

It is cruel, but not sad, when you are given the privilege to watch one of the greatest gemes ever it can't be sad.

My simphaty goes to our German friends, it has been cruel to them, but had it been the other way round it would have been cruel to Italy.

I am looking forward to another great game on Sunday, but whoever wins it won't be like today, this semifinal had that special feeling that only a game between Germany and Italy can give.

As much as I don't want to say it I think Italy will go through to win the cup now.... just too great a performance by them to do anything else but to roll on.

By far the best game of the tournament.

HI SOCKE

Sorry for your team, but look at it from a different angle: perhaps you have won a fresh start with that Brazilian girl.

Your friend, also out of WFC,
Ruben

I wish you were right, but what Zidane and Henry did to the bresilians got me worried.

And last time Italy won a semifinal against Germany after extra time the final did not go very well.

I doubt it, Volker told us the girl is now married (to someone else.)

A great game from both sides, clean, Italy was the betetr side all the time, deserved to win, Lippi ruined Klinsmann tactically in the extra time, it was clear Italy had its msot dangerous chances there, Gilardino's ball was too good to be missed, exceptional talent infront of goal...

The 2 goals were fantastic, smart game from the ITalians, very solid defending, effective on the offensive...Germany tried though, and they ahve my respect as always for that...Also because i didn't even expect them in the semis...

BRAVISSIMI!!

Azzurri you are the best!!

Again I may be biased but I somehow agree, it was a great match between to great sides, but if I really have to choose one, I'd say that overall Italy was just so slightly better.

It was a great game with a stunning finish by Italy! Germany was very good, but Italy was better.

What a match!!!
Italia 2 - Germany 0 in the last minute of overtime

Incredible!!!

Tomorrow... GO PORTUGAL!!

Ok I'll trust you :D :D :D [snip]
I hope I have earned my trust... ;)

My thinking that Italy would win was based on Germany's performance against Argentina. Argentina had that game won until Pekerman bottled it. Today Italy played the ball around on the pitch constantly and IMHO were the better of the two teams. Lippi deserves credit for his substitutions, all of them positive and Italy have tremendous depth in their squad. They went for the win in overtime and got it so congratulations to them and commiserations to Germany who played an excellent game but were shaded on the day.

this only means you have good defensive reflexes at your mind. In your place, I would be worried by the other 80% too.

As much as I loved watching Zidane vs. Brazil (and I had a great night/morning as a result) I'm not sure if he (or France) can come up with a repeat performance...

Think it will be Italy vs. Portugal.

Germany were never capable of the sustained technique that allowed the Italians to constantly pass the ball around in both regular time and overtime. I was just really impressed with Italy's self-confidence and the fact that they didn't even seem to notice the antagonism in the stadium. The fans were truly wonderful in their support of the German team and it must have lifted the Germans but good organization, enthusiasm and a high-tempo game can only get you so far. Italy will be tough to beat in the final whoever plays them.

It seems Italy shines in those pressure situations where they open up things, after playing defense like a clenched fist. They quicken the pace and things start getting fast and crazy—then they score. Seems to be their M.O. Germany played well, but Italy has the guns to finish.

:)

Germany was never really out of contention, and were the stronger team in the second half of regular time, I believe. If you really want to know who the better team is, play a "best of 7", like they do in NHL hockey playoffs.
