They kenw how to win that certainly, the portuguese are pathetic really...I supported them a lot, but this is crap, they have the greatest talents of the world, and yet they can't play a game in a proper way, always diving, no proper passing, no team play, not solid at all...
Congratulations France, it's time for you to loose a game

I would have preferred Portugal, France is going to be a really tough customer on Sunday.

What I don't understand is that the referee did not fall for the dives, since he did not concede a penalty, so why didn't he yellow the divers?

Good question Gianni; I wonder the same in fact.
But though all the fouls, Portuguese players showed very nice and dangerous moves. I think that French players (midfield) were totally exhausted from their struggle against Brazil, plus afraid of receiving a second yellow card (especially Vieira, Zidane and Ribéry). Anyway, we're in final, against an impressive Italian team ...
But now it's time for celebration in the street (and maybe RF photos
). So have a good night, I'm going out

For someone with a very French sounding name, I have only one comment:
Go Italy! Beat France!
Go Italy! Beat France!
A comment on the radio broadcast was that Portugal was killing themselves by falling to the ground constantly instead of trying to make a play. Too much talent waisted flopping to the grass.

They should call the Portuguese team the Submarines, they dive just as often, spoiled the match for me!! As for their trainers baviour at the end, I think England will be very glad he turned down their trainers job!!

Let's keep this friendly and not get personal.
It would be a shame to lose such a good and long thread in the last few days.

Sob....
Talking about diving(cheating), IMHO penalty for France was pure cheating (diving by Henry)
Despite unimpressive game by exhausted Zidane in second half, I have to admit France's sheer
physical power dominated over uninspired Portugese attackers, so France deserved to win.

The fact is that most players now in the England team are a bunch of overpaid, overrated, spoilt boys, and this is what Ericcson had to work with, there is no more talent than there was 10 years ago, probably a lot less.
And you know, showing a different side of an argument does not automatically mean to "cloud the issue". Stats are there to be read, and at least they present hard facts not personal and questionable opinions.
There seems something strange with this England team, almost like France in the earlier matches, no passion, no energy, no vision - a team which is not united. I suspect there was split between the Eriksson/Beckham/Lampard side and the rest. Perhaps the truth wil come out later. Or they are just a bunch of overpaid boys....

We had the same argument about the penalty for Italy, if you do a badly timed tackle in your own penalty area, you can't expect the attacker to try everything in his power to avoid you, he knows that if he runs into you and falls he is likely to get a penalty, and that is what he does!
99.99% of the players would have taken the opportunity and would have behaved exactly the same way, and if a penalty is given, more than 50% of the blame lies with the defending player, and less with the attacker.
A dive on the other hand IMHO is what the portoguese had been doing all the time, simply falling down on their own for no reason whatsoever.
That said I have a dislike for Henry, not for the penalty against Portugal, but for trying to have an opponent sent off feigning an injury.
