I'm new to RF camera's. Maby i want to buy one....
Now i use Canon DSLR's, digital.
Why i want an RF?
Dont know.... it keeps just getting my attention when i surf the web.
Do you know a website wich explains RF in simpel language?

Can someone advise me on getting my first RFF? I was thinking of a Voigtlaender R2A or R3A, what is the difference between the 2?

Thanks, Amanda

welcome amanda!

click on the cameraquest link to your left on the screen and then click on camera articles. there is lots of good info there.
we have a classified section that usually has a few cameras in it.

if you find a specific camera that you want just let us know and maybe someone here has one.

it would help us all if we knew what kind of shooting you like to do.

Hi Amanda and welcome to the forum,
The basic difference between to two is in the finder. The R2A has a 0.7 finder with frame lines selectable for 35,50,75 and 90mm lenses. The R3A has a 1x finder and lines for the 40,50,75 and 90mm lenses. You will find a lot more info in the Cosina Voightlander Bessa forum. I am sure you will get plenty of advice on these and other suggestions.

Welcome 🙂

As Joe and Kim have indicated, www.cameraquest.com is a wealth of information for all things RF. Stephen (the site's owner) is also a good man to buy from should you decide on a Voigtlander.

Let us know what style/subject of shooting you prefer and perhaps we can be of greater help.

I want to use the RF camera for street, city and landscape shooting. It's not my intention to sell my Canon gear......

You can see my pictures here: http://amandavs.smugmug.com/

Ruben, thanks for the link. It's funny, i visit that website every day and did not know they had an explenation of the rangefinder 🙄

Howdy and welcome....
Giving advice on a first rangefinder camera is tough. A lot depends on how much you have to spend and what kind of features you want.

Right now the most bang for the buck is the Bessa R with 35mm Color Skopar from CameraQuest Just click on the CameraQuest Icon at the top of any RFF page.

I have a fondness for the FSU cameras, in particular the Kievs. A lot of the 1960s and 70s fixed lens rangefinders from Canon, Konica, Yashica and Ricoh are exceptional bargans and good performers.

Spend some time looking around here you will find spec's , opinions. DIY repair info for just about every rangefinder camera ever made.
