Jan is my name, I don't use rangefinder cameras (yet) but then I didn't use LF either until accidently joined a LF discussion group.
I am a male, with all the features most males have, beard growth, hairy legs, dark voice, passion fo cars, just a touch machoism and a great love for buying any "loose" and cheap photographic equipment, so I will probably get turned on by rangfinders, read up on them, start working on a reall good excuse why I should have a rangefinder camera amongst my others (for my dear and beloved wife) and then .... shall acquire one ... 🙂 It might take a while (especially the wife part) but I can allready see myself fooling about trying to load a film in a Leica ..... I have this vision ......

greetings to you all,

and its very very warm here in Munich, actuall to bright to go out and take photos, or sit in beergarten for that matter ....

Jan,
Welcome, and let me be the first to tell you, RUN, DON'T WALK, RUN away from this forum. It is addictive and fun!!! If you don't have a RF camera now, I would almost wager that by the end of the year you'll have at least 1. Russian RF cameras are an inexpensive way of getting involved and you can even practice bottomloading. I began with one and now have at least 5, notice I said at least, some coming some going! Welcome again, and how is it too bright to sit in a biergarten?

Welcome Jan,

You'll enjoy it here and I give you a month till you start buying . It never stops though, well until visa cuts your credit 😀

Speaking of buying cameras, I live just 25km south of you (Icking) and [shameless plug mode] you might wanna have a look at this:

Congratulations! Still the greatest place to live in Germany, IMHO - gotta go there again some time...

BTW, Jan, a 'Willkommen' from me, too!

Roman

Welcome Jan! You will probably get a rangefinder quicker than a wife - but who knows - if you get out to that biergarten things may change! 😀

Welcome, Jan. Low light shots in a biergarten - definitely time for a rangefinder. 😉

thank you all, a very friendly welcom indeed 🙂

Felipe, Icking I know of the place, out of Thalkirchen/Solnn a bit hey .... never recall having been there though. I live in Schwabing, in the old part between Leopolsstrasse and the English Garten, in which you currently currently can walk over the heads ..... not a patch of grass to be seen for all the people...

Anyway thanks for the Bessa offer, but I will be buying something "old" all my cameras are at least 30 years old and this is about the limit (age) I have set. I will be hunting down an early series M2 or M3 preferably with uncoated an uncoated 50mm, but I have to research this all a bit more, hence my joining this forum.

Why move to Berlin ?

I lived in the Stengelstrasse for some years (opposite the ungererbad), it's a nice place to live really. I went to the small garden of the seidlvilla quite often back then, very cosy and you can bring your own beer!

I'm moving because a) munich is darn expensive and b) it's darn boring for being so expensive.. 😀

Cheers,
Phil

Expensive it is München .... I am so lucky having my house paid for by my employer, otherwise it's practically unaffordable for anyone except the chosen few.
Mind you 3,50 for a Dunkles Weizen is quite up to the price....

Welcome to the friendliest photo-forum on the web! Trust me, you will buy alot of RF equipment and ended up asking yourself, do I need all these? 🙂

If that is so Jan, welcome to the dark side of photography! As Darth Sidious said, "the dark side will give you abilities that others will consider unnatural" 😛
