Been reading/lurking and keep coming across the following:

GAS
FSU

Please, what do they mean and do I need pepto bismal?

GAS: Gear Aqusition Syndrome eg. I've relieved my GAS (and pocketbook) by buying that new ASPH lens.

FSU: Former Soviet Union (referring to, as I'm sure you've guessed, photography and camera-stuffs) eg. That's one sweet FSU Fed you've got.

Thank you - I definetly have GAS but no FSU (and probably will not acquire in the near future).

Have just purchased a Yashica Eletro 35 GS through this board and a Canonet GIII QL1.9 through *Bay (Canadian source so at least there won't be any duties or taxes).

eBay has a way of selling something that is both *Mint-Minus* and Junk at the same time...

The Canonets are really great little cameras aren't they. Fujicas and Yashicas as well. How do you like the TL Electro X? I have a couple, although they get little use since I have several other M42 mount cameras including a Fujica ST 901 that I have had over 30 years now. Still works great. My first SLR was a Yashica TL Super. Great cameras. Then Yashica made the Electro and the Electro X after that. I think it was the AX after that and then the Contax mount Yashicas. Some of those are great too. Anyway welcome to our little world. Mostly rangefinders as you can guess by the name of the forum, but most use other cameras as well. Btw, there is a good search function. I haven't tried it for GAS or FSU, but it should have given you the answer. No problem to ask any question any time anyway. If you have been lurking long you have noticed most members here are quite tolerant and helpful about anything they know aboutl.

Will know in about 10 days. The Yashica through this board comes from a recommended source (Ricardo) so I am not anticipating anything other than loading up and heading out. The Canonet on the other hand ........
