Higgs Boson information from Wired's site

Loved your mathematicians joke Al.

I must say that Peter Higgs lends just a little dignity to this very expensive discovery, a dignity which is seriously eroded by the fact that the thing is called a boson. I had hoped the Large Hadron Collider might find something more grandly named. I wonder what is the German for boson — maybe that has a more impressive sound.

Nope. Ger. Higgs-Boson. But if you call it a particle, which some say you shouldn't (Stephen Wolfam does in his long article for Wired) then it is Higgs-Teilchen. Or the Higgs-Feld for Higgs field, and best of all, Higgs-mechanismus for Higgs mechanism.

Since you know why the f stop numbers are what they are and you can still expose film and make a 50 year old camera work, you might be asked about the Higgs Boson. This Wired article and its links is excellent.

Is this a rangefinder camera or a SLR camera?????

This is a singer named Rebecca Higgs. Does this mean I've found the Higgs Bosom?

... so Schrodinger's cat hides in Descartes' metaphorical tree just when Aenesidemus walks past and doesn't notice :D

... driving round and round the beltway and occasionally crashing into each other?

No, they are in state houses, congress and on K street...

(Although, having driven the beltway, I can imagine the beltway as the LHC with cars instead of protons.)

More bad jokes;

Schrodinger's cat walks into a bar, and doesn't .

Nice one! My favorite science jioke though is the following:

Rene Descarte walks into a bar.

The bartender asks him if he would like a drink.

Rene says 'I think not", and promptly disappears.
