I recently was in the market for a Ricoh GR1v and ended up buying a Fujifilm Natura Black S f1.9 instead. This was mostly because the Natura was such a good deal I couldn't pass it up. I've been wanting to step up to a high end point & shoot camera for some time (having used a Olympus Stylus Epic, Minox GL, Olympus XA, etc.). Below is a list of the other "high end" fixed lens / fixed focal length 35mm Point & Shoot cameras I considered. In fact, I'm still considering getting a Ricoh GR1v in the future for more manual control. My question is this:

Are there any other cameras that fit this description?

Criteria:

Point & Shoot
35mm Film
Fixed lens / Fixed Focal Length (no zoom)
"High End" (high quality optics, great build quality, fast lens [2.8 or faster], good ergonomics)
Fits in your pants pocket or jacket pocket
More manual controls the better

(I didn't include the Heaxar AF because I don't think it fits the size requirement I'm thinking of).

Contax T
Contax T2
Contax T3
Fujifilm Klasse / Rollei AFM35
Fujifilm Klasse S
Fujifilm Klasse W
Fujifilm Natura S f1.9
Leica CM f2.4
Leica Minilux f2.4
Minolta TC-1
Nikon 35Ti
Nikon 28Ti
Ricoh GR1
Ricoh GR1s
Ricoh GR1v
Ricoh GR21

This appears pretty definitive! Perhaps it ought to be rebadged as THE list for this class of camera. How nice it would be to have acomparative set of specs as well, since some of us know only a few of these.

Your list is pretty comprehensive. If you are open to consider an excellent quality plastic camera, more in the class of the Stylus Epic or the XA, then you must include the Pentax UC-1 (a.k.a. Espio Mini)

Leica CM added to the list! Good suggestion kdemas. As to other suggestions: Just looking for fixed focal length and "high end" cameras. I should have been a little clearer in my original post. Thanks for your comments just the same.

I realize it doesn't meet your size requirements, but the Hexar AF is one helluva enjoyable camera. I absolutely love mine.

+1 for the espio mini, a very underated camera

I recently picked up a yashica t5 (t4 super) ...
I think it's brilliant - super sharp lens!
Ok it's 3.5, and has basically no manual controls ... But it takes great pictures just by pointing it in the right direction and pressing the button.

I don't want to be too pedantic here, but surely "more manual controls" makes a camera less of a "point and shoot"...? Or is "point and shoot" a generic term for anything compact round these parts? :)

Hi,

Olympus XA3, Leica Mini, Minolta Riva Mini and Panasonic C-625AF and there are one or two in the Samsung/Rollei stable that meet the spec. When you look at the price of some of these on ebay you may not see them as high end but I go by the prints or slides...
