Hi guys,

Okay, now I've got the ebay window shopping bug, tell me, what's the difference between a Minolta Himatic 7s and a 7sII?

Is the 7s (no "II") worth lashing $20 on?

Cheers,
Steve

the 7sll is the more desirable and more expensive of the 2.
it is smaller and has a faster lens.
the 7s is also a great cmaera, very good lens - some say better than the canonet 17, but it is bigger.

Sounds cool.

Alrighty then (places bid with half an hour left on the auction).

My wife's going to kill me, of course...

Cheers,
Steve:)

Didn't Kris post a reply to this thread? I'm sure I read it earlier today.

Oh well. Anyway, it got sniped - someone got it for $15 or so.
According to the minolta site (thanks for that) it's program AE, which doesn't interest me much, in hindsight. I'd much rather some control over DOF, even in AE.

Cheers,
Steve

The Hi-Matic 7s, Hi-Matic 7, Hi-Matic 9, and the Little 7s-II all have full manual over-ride. The meter operates on my Hi-Matic 9 on Manual, unlike the Canonets. I think the 7s-II meter turns off, I will have to check. The viewfinder in the first 3 are larger magnification and better defined in the older 3.

Your wife will get mad at you for a $15 camera?! That is about 2 rolls of film with processing!

Joe, Do you still have your Hi-Matics for sale?

She won't get mad, really. But we *did* just get a big phone bill come in, so I imagine had I done it, I would have got a raised eyebrow.:)

i have a 7s that works ok except on auto, the aperture never changes. in manual it seems to work fine.
