Hipster vs. analog hobby photographer

Youse guys need to see the fine Russian movie "Hipsters." About wanna-be pre-rock musicians and their followers in Stalin's Russia. By the way the real Russian title can be translated as "obsessed with fashion."

If you are an RFF member and fully participate in the many discussions...... You are not a hipster :p Maybe

A Melbourne academic has apparently put together a map of hipster joints in the central business district. Now I am not a hipster, really, but my favourite uber cool joint ought to have been a prime suspect for inclusion and it is not there! Yay. The consequence of inclusion is prettily summarized by the academic in the last line of the article.

Well, it was beatniks, hippies, yippies, yuppies, and now millenials and hipsters. Don't worry, it will change again sometime soon, so who cares about these labels?

Most everyone here I'd describe as an Anorak. We're simply too old and too obsessive to be Hipsters.

In British slang an anorak /ˈænəræk/ is a person who has a very strong interest, perhaps obsessive, in niche subjects. This interest may be unacknowledged or not understood by the general public or even by modern photographers.

If you're concerned about whether a place is "uber cool" and are heartened that it's not on a list of hip places (thus keeping it undiscovered by the masses), then you're a hipster, I'm sorry to say.

Since the 80's I've wanted an old fashioned hat with a brim. Didn't have the face for it. Still don't but better than before due to getting older. And I don't know what style I would like -- recently saw a nice straw type with a medium - small brim that was crush-proof (way too much money) -- I may get a hat -- BUT the fact that it's become such a hipster emblem -- not that I have any problem with hipsters, it's just that they're a younger generation -- I just kind of like the hats you see in old movies -- maybe I'll get one in 2024 -- there is a benefit to protecting my bald spot from sunburn.
