holding for verticals

Good to see you around, Sean. Let us see something of what the M3 gets in Morocco.

Haven't ever used a hand-grip so can't comment. I focus with the camera held either horiz. or vert., depending on which way I can get a line to focus on. For vertical portraits at near distances, an eye is usually good enough.

Rick, the Hail Mary kind of shot is easy now with a digital camera that has a swivelling LCD. In ancient times, a TLR could be held upside down.

You're right about needing both eyes for self-protection: but maybe eyes alone are not enough. I was taking pictures of a street demonstration back in 1979, things got rough, and a cop pushed me into a steel fence. That explains why the 35mm lens I was using has a dent in the filter ring. The young man who bought it still swears by it, though.

Thank you for sharing your experience.
I have actually done that a few times now, but for a different reason...

I have used it to take some photos of some rock shows with a Fed-2. When standing in the audience, it is a bit hard to frame so that the people in front of you will not block the view...
Also thank you for being an  and saving me! I hope no one else thrash me here in this thread.

BTW, the camera lens has some 'n' no. of elements(which I suppose are lenses). By rotating the camera clockwise or anti-clockwise or upside down. Will there be any effect on the camera lens??(like while checking the eyesight, the ophthalmologist rotates the lens and the image goes blurr or comes into focus)
