Anyone got one of these yet? I like the idea of a cheap panoramic camera with the Holga effect.

So I ordered one off eBay from a seller in HK. It took a while to turn up as I chose the free shipping option to keep costs down. It arrived yesterday. I went out at lunchtime today and shot a roll of Shanghai GP3. It was a pretty cloudy day, but came OK. The camera shoots in 6x12, so you get 6 exposures on a roll. I developed it in Rodinal (1:49 @27C for 11m03s).

Interesting concept, the 120 Pan. But the Holga lens's distortion pretty much dictates that the subject is in the middle of the frame, and then there's a lot of fuzzy real estate on the sides.. For me that would be a definite hurdle towards good composition.

I agree with the fuzzy corners.
I kept coming back to the idea of using this camera as a base to replace the lens with one of those 4x5 lens+shutter combination.

Those shots are nice. Looks fun to use. Think I might pick one up just for the heck of it.

Thanks, and it is. You burn through film quickly, but at least it won't add much extra weight to your kit bag!

Yes, I agree that those Holgas are a perfect starting point for tinkering. The plastic is easy to drill, file, glue etc. and the cost when ruining one isn't the end of the world. Thought about putting an (Arsat, Kiev, Pentacon or similar) 80mm lens on a 120GN before I ran into my old Bronica again, making the exercise unnecessary. But I haven't abandoned the idea altogether..

I had the same idea. The lens to go for would be the 90mm (non-Super) Angulon, I think. I would like to create a simple focussing mount, and augment the setup with a hotshoe rangefinder. Only issue would be film flatness. Is the plastic fantastic up to it?
