Looks to be a good 'snapshot' lens. Much better than the specs would lead one to believe. Of course if what a person was after was the "holga look", then it appears too good for that.

And if you decide to step up in image quality just a bit, try out the Olympus 15mm f8 'body cap' lens. Lots of fun to use and produces nice images.

zuiko85, if you leave the little zone-plate thingy on the lens, it looks much more like expected, but took mine off so I have just the look of the crappy plastic lens. I could add a vignette back in post if I wanted a more Holga look.

jamie, I had a little interest in the body cap lens, but can't really see that it would be that much more fun than just shooting my Oly 17 pancake... and $50 isn't quiet the whim purchase that the $15 Holga lens was, but I could see it being fun. I'd also like if the 15 had a stop for 6ft and was maybe a little higher quality... say like an XA2.

I've got the similar lens for my Nikon and also dislike the "vignette" plate they added in. I was thinking I might remove it to get the creamy plastic lens photos minus the bothersome vignetting. Having seen your shots, I know now I need to do this. 😀

This is one of my favorites from the set:

There is a certain kind of "sharpness next to less sharp" -thing going on in this photo that makes it something more than just digital snapshots.

I think they achieve the goal with just the plastic (as you suspected).
