hello all,
anyone have any experience in getting homemage rear cap for this Nikkor lens? i usually have the 3.5cm on my camera so the 5.0cm needs safe storage. the Sonnar equivalent and its russian counterpart fits snuggly in a capless 35mm film container, but the Nikkor has a larger diameter. any help is appreciated
cheers

Hi winoto, You can easily make it by using Fuji film's film container. it will perfectly fit on your Nikkor S.C 5cm/1.4, bellow link will be a good guide for making homemade rear cap.

I think Steven gandy at Camera Quest has some caps, unless you're determined to make your own!

I just found the best rear cap I've seen so far for internal s-mount lenses. Jon said the ZM Sonar's cap is also great. I've been using a kodak film canister cap, which fits very securely. Today I came across the Hansa metal rear cap: http://shop.kitamura.jp/GoodsPg/5484
It fits my Millennium Nikkor perfectly and snugly, while the Nikon cap doesn't even pretend to be secure on the lens.

I ordered a couple of spare Sonnar 50/1.5 caps (for S-mount not ZM mount) via Fujiya the other day. They were 2,700 yen each direct from Cosina.

Just to clarify, when I said ZM Sonar I was referring to the S-mount version; oddly, at least from what it looked like on your box is still called a ZM.
2,700 yen and plastic is probably a better idea than these, but I only needed one and I found my local camera store had a heap of them NOS. They had probably been on the shelf for 20 years.

ZM is Zeiss M-mount. Zeiss used the same box for the S-mount sonnars because they only made 300. They slapped a sticker on the top to differenciate between the two.
