Hi everyone,
I found a very nice Summitar and after seeing all those lovely photos in that 'glow' thread, I'm thinking of getting it.
I was wondering if anybody know of a good alternative to the folding, barn-door type hood for the Summitar. I don't mind that hood and actually think that it is quite neat but I would prefer something that I can keep attached on the lens most of the time even when not in use. I thought that perhaps a hood for the coll. summicron might work but I see that the two lenses have slightly different diameters. Any suggestions would be appreciated.
Thanks.
Fernando

The 12585H hood for the 50mm f/2 Summicron works fine.

I second Colyn's suggestion, though the (not so) ugly square hood is the one which suits the Summitar best. Concerning the hood for coll. Summicron lenses, interestingly it's the same as the one for the Summitar. Many barndoor hoods have two inscriptions: "Summitar" on one side and "Summicron" on the other one.
Fernando, get a Summitar and post some pictures
Best,

I use a Kodak Series VI Adapter that slips on the rim of the Summitar and also provides a seat for Series VI filters. Works great.
