I just bought a konica m 28mm which come without the original hood. There's one original hood for sell on ebay, but the seller don't take bid from Canada. I'm searching for a compatible hood, there's one on ebay made for the summilux 35mm with 46mm thread. Do you know if this one can do the job ? Any suggestions will be appreciated.

Perhaps you might get a State-side friend to bid on your behalf; besides not knowing for certain which alternate hood might work for the 28 M-Hex (I'm wondering if some Leica hood might work) I'm fond of the original hood's ability to have the cut-outs aligned for maximum VF visibility; Leica's hoods do this as well, but not too many others as far as I know.
Others here, of course, probably know something I don't (they so often do

Consider a hood for the 28/2.8 Biogon from the Contax G syatem. It has a 46mm thread and unlike the Konica Hexanon shade, it will accept a slip-on lens cap. I've seen them used at KEH.

Check with the seller first if it vignettes on a 28mm. Seller does not state suitable focal lengths for the hood, but does say it works with a 45mm. It may be too much of a "normal" hood for you.

This one is definitely wide-angle but will probably block your VF.
All of the following are from a small dealer in England called Andrew. He's decent, I have dealt with him. Send him an email to ask if any would be suitable for a 28mm on a RF:

Hello,
I have a 28mm hood for sale which I mistakenly received with a 50mm Hexanon lens in the past. The seller told me to keep it, but I have no use for a second hood to my 28mm lens. PM me for details.
Cheers, Johan

My M5s need red dots!
My own Hexanon 35/2 hood has been dropped a couple of times... and I wish I could find a new copy. In the meanwhile, I must treat it with love and care.
Where can one go for these parts now?

I contacted Matsuyastore on ebay for a hood for my 28 Hex and they tell me that they only have a hood for the 35 Hex, maybe you can contact them.

I find myself more and more after proper hoods for wides. Canon 35mm 1.5, Hexanon 28, etc.
I really wander why Heavystar or another chinese concurent don't propose a properly vented wide hood like the one for the 70's 35 summicron. IMHO It could be a huge success.
Is someone with turning facilities listening??
I'm now tempted to buy a regular vented hood and to machine it to shorten the fron until it goes out of the frame. Has anyone tried it? My fear is that the base of the hood itself is too long and depending on the front element position and the FL of the lens, shortening the front could be useless.
