Hood question

I know many here are familiar with the 'Heavystar' hoods. I want a 39mm version. He has two, one says 'for Summicron' and the other 'wide angle'. Now which one should I get to fit on a 40mm lens? Will the longer shade vignette?

The original Leica Summicron one was for 50 and 35. If his is a copy it will be as well and certainly for 40 mm. I can tell you in a short while, as I just ordered one and plan to use it on both my Elmar 50 and my Summarit 3.5 cm. As soon as it turns up I will tell you how it compares with my grotty original one.

That's a timely bit of coincidence 🙂. I guessed it would be ok with a 35 too, but will wait for your findings. I'm in no particular hurry.

The 50 mm one is a lot smaller that the original one. I would say it will certainly vignette on the 35, but might *just* clear the 40mm Minolta/Leica CL lenses or just not. If I were you I'd get a 35 mm one, or as an alternative ask Stephen Gandy (cameraquest)
